Project overview / Android app and marketing website

Azkar Almumin

Android integration and ongoing development of the Azkar Almumin Islamic app: a native page-based Mushaf, precise adhkar and adhan notifications, performance and security work and signed Google Play releases, plus a separate marketing website with a content admin.

Azkar Almumin: home screen and the page-based Mushaf

Project overview

What was built for this project?

Azkar Almumin is a comprehensive Islamic app bringing together the Quran, adhkar, prayer times, a tasbih counter and an audio library. The client built the app's interface with web technologies (React, TypeScript, Firebase) and keeps adding features; PIXELSAA acts as the technical partner: turning it into a complete Android app, building native features, improving performance and security, and delivering successive signed releases from 1.0.0 to 1.0.7.

A separate Arabic marketing website was also built with Laravel and Filament, with a blog and content admin, fully independent of the app's database and secrets.
  • Complete Android app via Capacitor, without a browser bar
  • Native page-based Mushaf: 604 pages with swiping, zoom, index and bookmarks
  • Night mode and offline Quran reading
  • Adhan and morning/evening adhkar notifications on the minute, even when the app is closed
  • Reminder card over any screen, with lock-screen-only notifications
  • Automatic city detection for prayer times
  • Adhkar page with a circular progress counter and a unified tools menu
  • Clearer Hadith Qudsi page and hadith-of-the-day card
  • Faster start-up: entry bundle cut from 1119 KB to 742 KB, Firebase loaded lazily
  • Security review with fixes to account deletion and external deep links
  • Ongoing merges of client updates without losing earlier fixes
  • Signed AAB and APK builds with release notes for every update
  • Separate marketing website built with Laravel and Filament, with a blog and admin

01

The challenge

The app is built with web technologies and the client adds features continuously. It needed a technical partner to turn it into a complete Android app without a browser bar, add native features such as a page-based Mushaf and notifications that arrive on time even when the app is closed, merge the client's updates without losing earlier fixes, and deliver signed releases ready for Google Play.

02

The solution

The app was packaged in Capacitor with locally bundled files, and a native Mushaf screen was built showing all 604 Madinah Mushaf pages with swiping, zoom, index, bookmarks, night mode and offline reading. Notifications were tuned to arrive on the minute, with a reminder card that appears over any screen. Every release merges the client's changes, improves performance and security, and is tested on Android devices and emulators.

Development approach

A clear path. From first question to launch.

Ongoing work across successive releases from 1.0.0 to 1.0.7, each with its own branch, handover report, Google Play "What's new" text and file checksums. Every release is tested on the LDPlayer emulator and Android 14 and 16 devices, with 36 navigation scenarios and 7 on-device back-navigation checks, and performance measured before and after; first contentful paint dropped from 1155 ms to 957 ms.
